My journey with language

Hi! I’m Bree, and I love teaching English from a direct approach to conversation and experiencing the language in an authentic and meaningful way.

I’m from the border region between Mexico and the United States, so I lived between two worlds from a very young age. I was in Mexico until I was fifteen, and then I moved to Kansas, where I went to high school and college. I earned a double degree in Finance and Economics and another in Spanish with a focus on literature.

During my time at university, I took study trips to a university in Germany and to China to learn about different cultures and languages. I’m always curious to discover new ways of life.

In 2016, I moved to Mallorca, Spain, with a scholarship for the NALCAP (North American Language Assistant Program), where I worked as an English conversation assistant for different schools in Mallorca and Madrid, helping students of different ages.

One of the most enriching experiences was working for CEIP Fernando de los Ríos, which was nominated by the platform ‘Mi Cole’ as the best public school in Spain. At this school, I learned a great deal about how a school adapts to the realities and needs of its students, and how they develop educational projects that foster a love of learning in a fun way. Every school I worked at was a wonderful and unique experience.

Finally, in 2023, I took a big step and decided to start my own English teaching business. Beyond my work, my passion for culture is reflected in everything I do outside of work hours. In 2023, I founded the Mexican Women’s Association in Mallorca, a women-led group dedicated to sharing Mexican culture and fostering intercultural understanding. I am passionate about promoting and actively participating in creating a better world where diverse cultures and realities can coexist and exchange different ways of life.

I firmly believe in the transformative power of discourse and language. I strive to foster independent and critical thinking. In an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, it’s no longer enough to simply speak English; it’s also crucial to know how to navigate increasingly diverse cities.

I like to think that languages aren’t just about learning grammar rules, but about immersing yourself in a new world, new ways of thinking, understanding each other, and questioning things.
Learning English can be a tool for personal exploration and, at the same time, a gateway to new opportunities.

My approach goes beyond language. I like to think that I not only teach English, but also skills, values, and tools that are useful for life in general and for the citizens of the future. I work with children, teenagers, and adults, always fostering an open, curious, and critical mind.

My Story: Intercultural Love

It all started with an insatiable curiosity about languages and cultures. I grew up on the border between Mexico and the United States, a very peculiar place in itself, with a mix of cultures: Rarámuri, Mennonite, Mestizo, Chicano, American, Mexican-American, and therefore, I also grew up hearing different languages. I was always drawn to language, songs, and movies.

When I moved to the United States, I learned English in six months through cultural immersion and the ease with which young people learn. I immersed myself in the culture, in books, with people; I learned a lot and questioned a lot, because learning about a new culture also means questioning your own. I learned some new values and kept some that I liked, my own. I experienced bilingualism and Spanglish with my friends.

What I liked the most was suddenly being able to have friends from all over the world, the diversity of the university and being able to have the opportunity to travel the world. I suppose what sets me apart is that, that I am from the border, a mixture between here and there.
I grew up between Mexico and the United States and now live in Mallorca. I was able to understand the mix of cultures and languages from a young age. I understood that learning a language is not just learning to speak, but a way of opening up to the world.

When I started teaching, I realized that language is more than grammar and vocabulary; it is a tool to express our ideas, to connect with other people and to reflect on ourselves.

In every class, I seek more than just teaching English: I want my students to discover, find, and enhance their voice. It motivates me to see how, little by little, they gain confidence to participate in a conversation, share an idea, or even question a perspective. I am inspired to help them think beyond words, to reflect on issues that matter and to develop a global vision that allows them to value other perspectives, cultures and their diversity.
My approach is deeply influenced by my belief in the importance of dialogue, not only as a teaching technique, but as an engine for learning and personal transformation. Paulo Freire said that “education does not change the world, it changes the people who are going to change the world”. That idea accompanies me every day as a teacher. I feel that in each class there is an opportunity to learn together, to exchange perspectives and, above all, to grow.

What motivates me is knowing that each of my students has a unique story, a dream that English can help them achieve. Whether it’s a trip, a job opportunity, or just the desire to connect with someone on the other side of the world, my role is to be that guide who accompanies them with patience, empathy, and enthusiasm. And in doing so, I also learn from them, from their experiences and from their ideas.

Today, my mission as an English teacher is clear: to use the language as a tool to open doors, question ideas and build bridges. Each class is a reminder that even though we come from different places, we can find common ground in our words and our stories.

My Mission

To empower my students to develop communicative skills in English in a meaningful way, fostering critical thinking, respect for cultural diversity , and the ability to participate in a globalized world. Through dynamic classes based on conversation, relevant and reflective topics, we seek not only to teach a language, but also to inspire continuous learning, empathy and cross-cultural understanding.
